TITLE: Dispatch Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in transportation management or related field is preferred.

- Valid Class B CDL with P&S endorsements and able to drive with students on board.

- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with drivers, passengers, and other stakeholders.

- Proficiency in using computerized dispatching systems, GPS tracking software, and other relevant technology.

- Knowledge of local traffic regulations, geography, and public transportation systems.

- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure, particularly during emergencies or service disruptions.

- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings.



REPORTS TO: Director of Operations

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Schedule and dispatch buses and drivers according to established routes, timetables, and student demands.
  2. Monitor bus operations in real-time, tracking vehicle locations and ensuring adherence to schedules.
  3. Communicate effectively with drivers and provide necessary instructions and updates regarding routes, schedules, and any changes in service.
  4. Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure that all buses are properly maintained and serviced.
  5. Respond promptly to service disruptions, accidents, and other incidents, implementing contingency plans as necessary to minimize disruptions to service.
  6. Develop and implement new routes, schedules, and service enhancements.
  7. Maintain accurate records of bus schedules, driver assignments, and other relevant information.
  8. Collaborate with other departments, agencies, and stakeholders to coordinate intermodal transportation services and promote effective transportation solutions.
